Donation of medical supplies, coloring books, crayons and new born kits for LSI (Locally Stranded Individuals
Project Date: August 18,2019
As we have been attending to the basic needs of our locally stranded kababayans in Libingan Nga Mga Bayani who temporarily live in make shifts and tents, they do not have the luxury of gadgets and internet. We saw this in our initial visits providing them with their basic needs.
We decided to go to them again but now more Focused on pregnant women, our very own AG Hermie Bongolan and PE Cathy Orda, both Registered Nurse gave basic instructions and guides done under the trees. It was a wonderful time spent as even post partum period was discussed. Each pregnant woman was also given her basic new born kit inside a beautiful Rotary embroidered bag.
The children were gathered, boys in one side and girls on another. Providing them coloring books and crayons aside from their added washable face masks, wipes, shirts, medicines for kids, SAG Tess Fajardo and Pres. Elsie Ang were pre school teachers on drawing injecting values and virtues while having fun coloring. This was not your usual classroom setting because it was also done outdoors, under the trees. At times the children would call out on us as teacher... It was pleasing to our ears and so happy to have these kids proudly show their work. It was taking them away from all anxiety of doing nothing the whole time they were there. Kids were so happy and even said that at least now they have something nice to do.
IPP Des Padilla and our prospective member Jean Dela Torre were busy helping in the distribution of stuff while Rtn. Jam Concel was happily documenting the event using her camera.
Later we had to attend to three more pregnant women in a cordoned off area because we were told that a Covid 19 who just recently died was once among that group. We however continued to show them our concern and provided them with what we did the first group.
This was quite moving as we reached out to them and attended to their needs. A few more kids came and we were able to provide them with coloring books and crayons too.
It was genuine concern for them that moved us to reach out to them, it felt good and more meaningful and we consider this simply truly serving above self.
